Fan Laws and Applications:

In a fixed system with turbulent airflow, the Fan Laws can be used to accurately predict a variety of performance relationships. These relationships can be used to make design trade-offs and select or optimize the appropriate airmoving solution for a given application.
Linear Speed Relationship
CFM2 = CFM1 ( RPM2/RPM1)

Square Relationship with Pressure
SP = K · CFM2
SP2 = SP1 · (CFM2/CFM1)2

Cubic Relationship with Power Required
P2 = P1· (CFM2/CFM1)3

Logrithmic Noise Relationship
dB2 = dB1+ 50 log (RPM2/RPM1)

Cubic Relationship with Size

 CFM2 = CFM1 · (SIZE2/SIZE1)3
